How can dissertation coaching help you?
Do you feel lost in the dissertation process? If so, you might benefit from having a guide point you in the right direction. Regardless of whether you are a self-starter or a procrastinator, dissertation coaching can help you.
First, let me explain what dissertation coaching can be. Dissertation coaching is a broad term that encompasses a myriad of activities related to the dissertation research and writing process. For some clients, coaching consists of proofreading drafts and providing feedback on writing and structure. For others, coaching includes conversations and guidance regarding data collection and data analysis. Because the coaching process is based on a number of factors, you are not required to commit to a specific number of coaching sessions or sign a long-term contract.
Most commonly, my clients contact me when they are beginning to write the dissertation proposal and need guidance on a theoretical framework or research design. In these cases, we will discuss your field of study, research topic, and any concerns that you have about the research and/or writing process. Since many coaching clients have minimal research experience, I often serve as a sounding board for talking through ideas, answering questions about Institutional Review Board approval, data collection procedures, and data analysis. For every client, my goal is to provide support through each phase of the research and writing processes to ensure that you are sending your best work to your advisor and dissertation/thesis committee. I offer a complimentary consultation to verify that dissertation coaching is an appropriate fit based on your needs.
