About Your Coach
Kevin Hylton, Ph.D.
I have a Ph.D. in Sociology from Howard University, an MA in Higher Education Administration, and over two decades of experience serving as a research scientist, evaluator, technical advisor, and policy advisor to Federal, State, and local governments, as well as non-profit organizations.
Most of my research has focused on understanding and improving health disparities and educational inequities among underserved minority populations. Currently, I serve as a program evaluator for small research companies and non-profit organizations. In addition, I am an adjunct professor at colleges and universities in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, where I teach behavioral and social science courses. Having co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and technical reports, and presented papers at professional meetings and conferences, I am well-versed in conducting small and large-scale mixed-method studies and have provided support and advising on both qualitative and quantitative studies.
My content expertise includes substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections, issues in healthcare, diversity and race/ethnic relations, domestic violence, and educational outcomes. I am passionate about helping graduate students navigate the challenges and obstacles of pursuing a graduate degree and writing their dissertation. I firmly believe that there is a solution to every challenge and obstacle a student encounters in the pursuit of a graduate degree.
